Something not many people know is that Kane Brown and Lauren Alaina have known each other for years… not even joking. They went from middle school chorus buddies to big-time country artists. And they even got to do a single together recently, which you’ve has become a huge hit, “What Ifs.”
PEOPLE Country got to sit down with the two and do and interview to get some inside scoop on what it was like for the two to go to middle school and high school together and to be where they are today.
In the interview Lauren Alaina talks about how Kane Brown use to be in 7th grade chorus class and believe it or not she says “He was very, very shy.” So the two continue to walk down memory lane when its said that Alaina took chorus seriously, Brown admits, “It was just a class for me not to do work.”
But Lauren Alaina, being the bubbly and personality filled person that she is made sure that she got him to participate to see what she was up against. “We were sitting in class one day and I heard him humming, and I was like, ‘Can you sing?’ ” Alaina recalls. “And you said, ‘No, I don’t sing in front of people.’ And I was like, ‘Well, you’re going to today.’ ”
“He was even better than I thought he would be. When he started singing, I was like ‘Stop singing! I want to be the best singer in class,’ ” Alaina jokes.
