It isn’t often that you hear of Taylor Swift being back in Nashville. The girl has taken off and become a HUGE success in the pop genre of music so she spends most of her time in the bigger cities like New York, Paris, LA etc. But she still considers Nashville her hometown and still owns a 2 million dollar townhome in the heart of Downtown Nashville. Once a Tennessee girl, always a Tennessee girl. Which means you can’t remove the country music side of her either. She returned to her roots on Saturday and made a surprise appearance at the Bluebird Café in not far from Downtown Nashville. It’ll be part of a documentary they’re doing in honor of the club’s 35th anniversary.
She was brought on stage by a guy named Craig Wiseman. He’s a songwriter who’s written hits for Blake Shelton, Kenny Chesney, and Tim McGraw. He and Taylor wrote together back when she was 17 years old.
She told a great story about a song she was working on back then and asked him to finish it with her. But he “didn’t get it” so they wrote something else.
She said, quote, “I couldn’t stop thinking about the idea. I thought there was something to it. I really liked it. [So], this is the song I almost wrote with Craig Wiseman. It’s called ‘Love Story’.” (Smart move, dude. It’s sold over eight million copies.)
Sitting on a stool next to Wiseman, Taylor performed a lot of her big hits like “Love Story,” “Shake It Off” and even her self-penned song “Better Man,” which became a major hit for Little Big Town. While onstage, Swift and Wiseman even took shots of Fireball Whiskey out of little bottles as the crowd looked on.
